Plum and Apple Cobbler

I had frozen a gallon bag worth of plums back in August and I wanted to make a plum cobbler for Tea Time Tuesday. And it was delicious!

Tea Time Tuesday is a new idea for my homeschool schedule. I will say the idea was heavily inspired by Sally Clarkson, and if you don't know who she is, I recommend checking out her books. She lives life beatifully and gives you practical tips on how to live life beautifully while serving God. And that doesn't mean she hops around like there are no cares in the world. She intentionally slows down which I know helps us see the beauty around us. She has a whole lot more to say than to live life beautifully, trust me.
Tea Time Tuesday for my family means that while the youngest is napping, the older two, who are homeschooled, sits at the dining table with my teacups, plates, teapot, and some delicious treat. Everything we do during Tea Time Tuesday is school work, but because of how unique and fun it is, my kids don't mind.
Each child's curriculum provides a music, art, and poem for the week.
We listen to a classical piece and I ask key questions to get them thinking about the piece. We learn about the composer and my kids are realizing that the composers are either from Austria or Russia.
Then we move on to the artwork. Each child has a art card that has the artwork on one side and the artist's information on the back. I also have a short biography of the artist in my teacher's manual. Some of the paintings are famous but most are some I've never heard of. And my kids are also realizing most of the paintings are oil on canvas.
Next comes poetry. Again, each child has their own poem for the week. And the poems are mostly short so the kids can remember them easily.
The curriculum I use for homeschool is Memoria Press, a classical education curriculum.
My kids look forward to Tea Time Tuesday. They love using my china, trying new teas, and love learning new things. They get really excited about the music part because some of these classical pieces are absolute bangers.
Now, I can't take the credit for the Plum Cobbler. Here is the link to the original creator. The recipe is tart, so add more sugar if you're not a lover of tart flavors.
Enjoy!
