Have you ever made a piñata? It's extremely fun and the possibilities are endless. The first piñata I made was for my older brother's 30th birthday. When we were younger, I spent many days and nights watching my big bro playing video games. Although he doesn't play video games as much as he used to, it was fun to make a game controller piñata for his birthday.

Here are the materials I used:
Cardboard
Tissue Paper
Streamer Paper
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Scissors
Tape
Construction Paper
A way to hang it up
I will be the first to admit that my piñata is huge. Not just huge, but massive. My focus was on the image of the controller and not "I need to fill this up with candy." Also, the piñata was proven to be strong because it took my brother a hot minute to break open the controller.
Obviously, the first thing you need to do is figure out what you want to make and how big. I don't recommend the size I made. Remember, you need to fill it with candy and/or toys!
The piñata took me three days. I wasn't working on it 24/7, but it took several hours from start to finish. Again, the size of my piñata took me a while to decorate it. Building the bones of the controller was quick and easy. the actual decorating was tedious.

The controller was first covered with black tissue paper. And then I used black streamer paper to create the piñata look we all know and love. However, I wish I used tissue paper instead of streamer paper. It would have been a whole lot faster.

Here is the finished product. The buttons for the controller were made with construction paper as well as the "Level 30" on the back of the controller. My husband helped me with adding a mechanism to be able to hold the candy-filled piñata (and no, it wasn't all the way full of candy).
Here are some things I learned from my experience:
SMALLER IS BETTER. Remeber, you'll be filling it.
Tissue paper would have saved me a ton of time. Instead of cutting streamers I would have cut tissue paper.
Again, smaller is better. Don't attempt a massive piñata like me.
I hope you have enjoyed today's blog post. Come back on Friday to read about church history and more.
